The number of pens is calculated as follows:
500 x 35%/12 = 14.58 (16 gilts/month)

Introduction quarantine pens
The quarantine period is at least one month, with a maximum of 20 gilts per pen.
To quarantine gilts of 16, two large pens and two small pens can be designed.

4. Gestation pens

Raising cycle: 12 weeks
Pen number calculation is as follows:
Pen: 24/95% x 12 = 303 stalls
Group pen: 24/5 + 3 = 8 stalls
Annual farrowing rate: 2.35 parities/year/sow
Farrowings per week: 500 x 2.35/52 = 22.6 (assuming 24 pigs)
Weaned piglets: 24 x 10 = 240 pigs (average 10 pigs per litter)
The rearing phase of sows is divided into two scenarios:
Grandparent Sow Farm: Sows (60% selection rate)

Broodstock Farm (Great-Grandparent): Sows 60%

Boars 20%

3. Farrowing Barn

28-day weaning: 6 units

21-day weaning: 5 units

24 farrowing beds per unit

4. Nursery Barn

7-week nursery, weekly disinfection, 8 units;

20 pigs per pen, 12 pens per unit

5. Finishing Barn

Pigs weighing 120 kg or more are marketed and require approximately 15 weeks of rearing after the nursery period. Designed for 16 units, 20 pigs per pen, 12 pens per unit. 6. Finishing/Testing Barns

Unless otherwise specified, the pen dimensions are the same as those for the finishing barns.

7. Sick Pig Isolation Barns

Same as those for the finishing barns, with the addition of a pathology and anatomy room.

8. Boar Barns

Calculate the male to female ratio at a ratio of 1:50-100.

One pig per pen, 7-10 square meters per pig.
