02 Pigsty Design: Balancing Specialization and Animal Welfare

The design of gestation pens needs to consider the sow rearing method. In recent years, for animal welfare reasons, more and more pig farms have chosen group rearing models.

For group-housed gestation sows, each sow should be guaranteed sufficient activity area; for multiparous sows, 1.77–2.23 square meters is recommended.

Studies show that providing sows with sufficient space can reduce aggression among pigs, decrease injuries, and improve reproductive performance.

The farrowing house is the pigsty with the highest investment, best equipment, and best insulation and ventilation in the entire plant. Farrowing pens typically include steel pipe-assembled farrowing guard pens to restrict the sow's movement and prevent trampling of piglets.

The temperature inside the sow house should be between 16-22℃, which is optimal for lactating sows' feeding and lactation.

The design of the fattening pen is crucial to the growth efficiency and health of pigs. Danish research indicates that a rectangular design with a length-to-width ratio of 2:1 is the best choice for fattening pigs.

Considering that a pig's body length at 100kg is approximately 130cm, the width of the fattening pen should be at least 2.2m. Experimental results show that housing 15-25 pigs per pen is ideal.

03 Environmental Protection Measures: Guardians of Green Mountains and Clear Waters

Modern pig farms prioritize environmental protection measures. Regarding waste resource utilization, advanced farming models allow treated wastewater to be directly used for farmland irrigation, achieving resource recycling and utilization.

Employees returning to the farm from outdoors must undergo multi-level disinfection procedures before entering a quarantine period. They can only enter the production area after their personal samples and belongings test negative.

Some pig farms have constructed a "four-layer, two-system" prevention and control system: Centered on the pigs, internal biosecurity is built, with four layers of protection from the pens, production areas, inside the farm, to the outside.

The two-system approach employs a unidirectional flow from clean areas to dirty areas, all-in, all-out, multi-point feeding, and batch feeding management.

05 Intelligent Equipment: Enhancing Efficiency and Management Modern pig farms widely utilize intelligent equipment to improve management efficiency. In terms of feeding systems, automated feeding systems are adopted to achieve precise feeding.

In terms of environmental control, high-end intelligent facilities and equipment are introduced, with bold innovations in air purification, automatic environmental control, energy saving, and deodorization.

The application of digital platform systems enables timely data statistics, with a level of intelligence allowing for daily real-time data updates, synchronizing production analysis, material analysis, and financial analysis to ensure data accuracy.
